Welcome to AlarmLogix
AlarmLogix brings simple visualisation to the production control room.
Why do I need AlarmLogix?
AlarmLogix is a cost effective product to allow System Integrators or End Users alike to instantly add visualisation to any control room.
Today's manufacturing site control rooms look more and more like standard offices, usually carpeted, low level lighting and simple desking in comparison to by-gone days when mimic boards, matrix panels, large industrial computers monitored the plant. These days, a couple of desktop PC's are all that's required to run the largest of production sites. Using standards and protocols borrowed from the IT industry, control rooms now can be situated at opposite ends of a facility without thinking about distances or cable routing.
This means that traditional hardwired methods of providing a system alarms may be impracticable.
AlarmLogix is a hardware and software that connects to your DCS or SCADA systems OPC server and starts tracking the alarms much like your control system. When an alarm is triggered, for instance a tank level High Warning, you can program the software to flash a beacon. When you acknowledge the alarm the beacon can remain on until the alarm condition is corrected.
One of the best advantages of this arrangement can be seen in a typical control room scenario. Normally a site has an security policy which means that a process operator must have two methods to logon to a control system, typically a swipe card and password. If the operator moves away from the console after a period of 10 minutes of inactivity the system automatically logs out the current user. If the operator returns, the logon sequence is repeated. However, during this logged out period, typically the HMI or SCADA will show a screensaver, sight of system and process alarms are temporarily lost. Therefore, one of the benefits of AlarmLogix is that alarms are still visualised regardless of whether an operator is logged on or not.
Traditionally, beacon indication was driven from a digital output from the nearest PLC or DCS control cubicle to the control room, but these days this may not be viable. This is where AlarmLogix is the solution. AlarmLogix uses a standard USB plug-and-play connection found on almost every PC delivered today.
No power supply is necessary, the AlarmLogix beacon draws it’s power directly from the USB port.
The AlarmLogix beacon uses the best German engineered components to ensure reliable operation. The beacon can be easily configured using any combination of up to 5 elements, including coloured LED’s, traditional sounder or our recently introduced noise cancelling sounder. Special modules that can use GMS technology are also available.
Fixing the AlarmLogix beacon couldn’t be easier. Any combination of desk (ideal for standard computer desks with cable managements systems) or wall mountings and available, either side or base entry supplied with a 2m USB lead .
